We must remember Martin Luther King

As gossip bloggers we like to have fun and tease people, and make fun of people. However, sometimes we need to be serious, and remember those before us who sacrificed for us to have a better world. 40 years ago today, Martin Luther King, Jr. was murdered outside of his hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. He died before I was born, but none the less, his words touch me. Our world, my world, is better because of him, and for that I am thankful. We all need to take a step back from the snark today, and remember Dr. King, and what he gave, and sacrificed for this country, the country that he loved so very much.
“Let freedom ring. And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring—when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children—black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics—will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
